Lindsay Lohan's Dad is an Irish Stereotype
Quote:
Eleven days after Nassau police responded to a domestic spat at the Merrick home of teen actress Lindsay Lohan, her father, Michael Lohan was brought into First District Court in Hempstead yesterday in handcuffs.
Lohan was arraigned on charges of second-degree assault, a felony punishable by up to seven years in prison if convicted, and two counts of aggravated harassment, a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail, authorities said. Before the arraignment, Lohan blamed his brother in law, Matt Sullivan.
"My brother-in-law got drunk and came over to my house," he said, stepping into the the police van along with other crime suspects at Nassau police headquarters in Mineola. Police had no immediate information about Sullivan and he could not be reached for comment.
Prosecutors say he punched Sullivan. It happened at a party for Lohan's son's May 23 Communion. Lohan's attorney said his client is getting a bad rap.
"This was a fight between family members," said Marvin Hirsch of Mineola. Hirsch expressed surprised at media coverage of the skirmish among kin of Lindsay Lohan, the 17-year-old star of box office blockbusters "Freaky Friday" and "Mean Girls."
Hirsch said the fight started when Michael Lohan tried to stop a drunk Sullivan from driving.
"He was attacked by his brother-in-law and he defended himself," Hirsch said.
Hirsch said Lohan may file a complaint against Sullivan. Lohan is due in court June 8.
