Never understood people thinking that he was great.
Always kind of viewed him as a high class character actor.
Good chops, but nothing astounding.

He was the first "mainstream" actors to actually use method. The Method is now used all over the place . He;s a genious. Kind of like how Orson Welles was a genious, by doing stellar work at the for a good portion of his career then gaining 300 pounds and sucking big time 'til he died.


past 2 decades with standing, he's one of the greats.

He was great, then he got fat, did Superman, and henceforth sucked and became weird.

Based on what I've read in the past, it seems to me that Brando was always far more exciting, interesting and innovative on stage, than on film. He was good in films, but his best work was Godfather (not counting Streetcar, a role he originated on stage.
