Plot: The original superhero is back. The familiar red, yellow and blue icon known as Superman returns from a mysterious six-year absence, where he will have to face not only Lex Luthor, but the public perception that Metropolis might have been better off without him.
Cast: Brandon Routh (Superman/Clark Kent), Kevin Spacey (Lex Luthor), Kate Bosworth (Lois Lane), Eva Marie Saint (Ma Kent), Hugh Laurie (Perry White), Sam Huntington (Jimmy Olsen), Noel Niell, James Marsden (Richard White), Stephan Bender (Young Clark), Kal Penn, Parker Posey
What really makes it for me is the score. I'd never have thought anyone could match John Williams score for the 1978 Superman film, but from the sound of this, they might have done it.
John Ottman is doing the score for this movie, but what's used in the teaser IS Williams original score from original movie, the piece is called "Planet Krypton".
I'm playing it right now on my disc.
It does sound in the trailer though like it's been re-recorded for digital clarity, perhaps. I've noticed the horn section and the bass is much much deeper than in the original movie DVD.
Then again, it could just be the quality of the DVD.
Ottman's already said he's not entirely convinced he'll be using William's score verbatim anyway.

I wish they would have the original music in the film, its kind of what i associate with Superman! The teaser is great though, loving the shots of him using his powers for the first time!
Oh he's said he'll use it as it'd be disrespectful not to nod to it in some way.
But the way he worded it was just that, it'd be a nod worked INTO his own score rather than used outright. He's also said he doesn't just want to recycle Williams' score as it's what he hated most about the other sequels and when he talks isn't even taking it as the pseudosequel it is. Which makes me worry.
But the interview was a while back, hopefully Singer's intervened with some sense.
Like I've said, taking that interview then comparing it to the marketing, even the production diaries are pushing the footage around Williams themes HARD. For them not to appear in the final movie would be a MASSIVE disappointment. Especially now they're even pushing Brando in the teaser.

John Williams did them both, but this isn't the exact same music?
It is....Watch the original flick, just after the opening titles, right before Zod, Non, and Ursa's trial....on Krypton when they zoom zoom into that massive dome.
I can't believe how much hate there is for this trailer.
Mostly from snobbish Comic-con fans who preferred the poorly cut together but "ooh it features dialogue from the characters" trailer shown earlier this year.
It makes me sick. It's a teaser. It's not supposed to show you anything of substance, it's supposed to set a mood, to pique a bit of interest, not to sell you a ticket.
Be glad they didn't do a ****ing Solaris and just have a fade into a red S emblem.

A Superman teaser where the only good elements are taken verbatim from a previous movie does not bode well. That CG cape in space looked like crap too.

Originally posted by Tay I like it. It leaves me wishing they'd included more... but then isn't that the point of the teaser. Which means it worked.
It doesn't leave me wishing they had included more...just something else...anything else. All of those scenes are remade moments from the original movie. I thought this was supposed to be a new movie. I'm more annoyed than excited that they didn't go with the stuff that's supposedly new instead of the rehashed original.
