PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: Dead Man's Chest - pre release talk!
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Release Date: July 7, 2006
Directed by: Gore Verbinski
Written by: Ted Elliot, Terry Rossio
Produced by: Jerry Bruckheimer
Plot: Captain Jack Sparrow is back messing around with the supernatural, this time it's the Legendary Davy Jones and his ghostly ship, The Flying Dutchman. Jack owes Davy a debt, and had better pay up or face eternal damnation. When Jack wrecks the wedding of Will Turner and Elizabeth Swan, he drags them into his hellish debacle.
This is so gonna rock. And if Keef makes a cameo it'll rock even harder! I have far more hope for this than I have for, say, Indy IV. Opening night is marked on my calendar.
Originally posted by Matt So, I'm saying if you can believe in a curse then relax and believe that he's a ghost in the next one.
Am I not relaxed?
I can believe that he can be back as a ghost, however that never came to mind so that was all I was asking. Wasn't too hard now was it?
Anyways, having recently rewatched the film, I am really anticipating the next two films. While I didn't hate Cutthroat Island, it wasn't even close to the fun Pirates was.
I'm kind of with you Sonny. It's a little lame for Rush to be back.
I mean, I love the character, but they should have let him go, whatever reason they've cooked up for it.
Though on the other hand... the whole storyline of these prequels is that Will Turner's father Bootstrap Bill comes back from the bottom of the seas looking for him.
The Curse was active on Bootstrap as well. If he was on the bottom of the sea when the Curse was lifted, then he should be dead too.
But yeah, would have been nice if dead had stayed dead.
Dunno if any of you know this but if you watch the end of the credits it shows a clip of jack the monkey taking a piece of the gold out of the chest then it cuts out. maybe thats something to do with it?

The monkey will be the invincible villain of the sequel.

sorry I wasn't trying to imply you were upset. I was just pointing out this movie is easy to suspend disbelief.

It's okay. I just wasn't thinking of many ways in which his character could be brought back. I just hope the way in which he is brought back and the way they use him isn't boring.
That would be hard, making a mad, greedy, evil pirate come back to life after suffering from a bad case of aztec curse for 20 or so years and make it boring.
I personally think he'll just have a small cameo, like Davy Jones will show Jack all the things waiting for him if he doesn't pay up and Barbossa and his crew appear as ghosts. wild stab in the dark.
It will be pretty boring if it is pretty predictable. I really just don't even want to see the character back, especially since there is so much more to work with that audiences haven't seen.
I guess, is it official that he's in the cast? i agree, there is so much more to be done, i rekon there'll be a huge armarda battle to draw audiences, not really sure how they're going to develop the characters though.
