I actually thought the trailer for Norbit was funny - it's something about the Eddie dressed as a fat lady character that just cracks me up. Plus, I like the Eddie playing multiple roles thing, he does that really well. It probably won't be superserious or anything, but in a comedy like that, all I really want is to laugh. *shrug*
So you're the one who has kept Martin Lawrence's career alive.
Seriously, how is it funny to see skinny guys dressed as fat old women? I can see why it might have been funny the first time, but we're on like the 100th time. How can that still make you laugh?
I don't get it. Explain it to me! You're not the only one.

Well, sometimes you're in the mood to watch "Munich" and sometimes you're in the mood to just watch something fun, I think. I like to consider it as I have eclectic taste I mean, a lot of it too is that I still really like watching Eddie do the multiple character thing, and even though that's not new, per se, in terms of being a plot twist or decision or anything, he's still the best at it.

Its funny to me that you used two such extreme movies as examples. Munich was indeed serious - in fact, I found it severely depressing and beyond the bounds of entertainment in any way - I'm all for feeling bad when watching a movie if there's a powerful message but that movie was just a total downer.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, I'm all for silly but this norbit movie looks like one stupid recycled fat joke after another. Honestly... that's not comedy. What Eddie and Arsenio did in Coming to America with the barbershop guys was comedy. Dressing up in a fat suit is stupid-comedy and not the good kind. It doesn't offend me or anything like that - I just think the joke's been done so many times that its lost all its flavor. Its disappointing that Eddie's even a part of it to be honest.

Just because you're in the mood to watch something fun doesn't mean you have to watch shit. It's not like this is the only fun movie out there. I mean, you have choices. There are plenty of GOOD fun movies too.
People ALWAYS say this to excuse movies like this, but it's really no excuse!
"I sed tasht da shoop and the waita says whas the problem an I say tasht da shoop but the waita's all whas the problem an I says will you just tasht the damn shoop! An' he says ok I'll tasht da shoop... wheres da spoon?

You know, in this case it actually is offensive to me.
Basically, the movie is saying it's horrible to be around fat people. The whole movie is about how horrible it is for Norbit to have to with this fat person. She's evil and horrible... because she's big.
Now I'm not one to make excuses for obese people being obese, but that doesn't mean they are bad people. It just means they can't keep their hand out of the mouth. Norbit seems to be saying that this woman is fat, and therefor evil. We're supposed to feel bad for Norbit because he has to be with this huge heifer.
Sorry, that kind of offends me, and I don't really get offended about anything.
At least Big Mamma's House wasn't offensive. Sure, Martin Lawrence was dressed up as a big fat woman but she was a likeable character and a good person. You weren't supposed to hate her for being fat. The same with Nutty Professor and Doubtfire and all the other crap movies of this genre.
This one seems completely evil. This is the worst of the lot.
It offends me too, not only because of the fat joke, but because someone out there thinks that I would want to see that movie and decided to make it... It insults everyone's intelligence.
