Dish on anything related to the animation juggernaut here.

The Lion pounced and as he went to bite, my grandfather ducked and bit the lion's balls right off. Then he spit them at Julius Caesar. Caesar turned and said, "Fight fair Knievel. Fight fair." -Evel Knievel.
Just in case anyone was wondering... Shrek the Third is a terrible movie.
If I talk myself into giving it as much as a 2.5 it'll be a miracle.
I didn't think it was that bad. It's definitely a let down from Shrek 2 but I didn't think it was as disappointing compared to Shrek 2 as the third Spider-man movie was to the second. A 3.5 for me.
The Shrek train is definitely losing steam. The biggest problem with the movie was the way it focused on Shrek's issues. It kept it from being as much fun as it could have been. Heaven help us if Shrek 4 is about his mid-life crisis.
Fairy Godmother was sorely missed. They should have made up a way to bring her back. She was worth twenty fairytale princesses.

I think I did see shrek twice in the theaters. Maybe three times. All with different people but it was definitely the kind of movie I was willing to pay to see again.
I liked shrek 2 a lot. Cant say it was as great as the first one but it was still really good. I'm looking forward to seeing the story continue.

Wow it was bad. The movie lacked any tension or heart for that matter. The story was just bad. When we got back home, I began thinking of potential stories that were better.
The only tension that could exist with Shrek becoming the king would be changing the focal point to the king's health. Have the King sick and dying and talking about how Shrek's gonna be the next King. Shrek doesn't want it. The King and Queen summon Shrek and tell him that something has been found that can cure him. So Shrek goes on this quest with Donkey, Puss n Boots, and maybe a few more. Blah blah blah they get the cure. When they get back, it really isn't a cure. It was the King showing Shrek that he has it in him to lead and it doesn't matter if he can't tell the difference in a shovel or a fork. blah blah blah and the king dies as Shrek finally accepts himself.
Now, that isn't brilliant. nor that interesting. But Shrek 3's plot was bland and seemed only to exist so that Dreamworks could put Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella in their movie.
I just saw it - didn't like it very much and I enjoyed Shrek 1 and 2.
My parents really liked it though.
It wasn't very funny. Few funny bits. Mostly long, boring, and annoying.

Josh's review said everything I thought, but in better words. I really missed the edgy, adult humor, I am not sure how they failed so miserably in that aspect, did they just not try at all to be funny? It was so devoid of humor I felt as if I was watching some after-school special on being true to yourself. The first two movies already gave the message that you should follow your heart and do what is right for you, but did so subtlety and without a speech that is better left for middle school counselors.
Yeah I remember laughing at the gingerbread part and when Puss explains when a man gets certain feelings for a woman, , but then the movie was over and we were thinking "is that it?" Very uneventful.
ETA: If this is the end of Shrek, I want a spin-off Gingerbread man and Pinocchio comedy.
