Shrek the Third - BOWLING FOR BOX OFFICE

Spider-Man 3 has shattered nearly ever box office record in existence. Shrek the Third opens this coming weekend and will try to kick spidey in the nuts and take its franchise's records back.

Can Shrek do it?

HISTORY:
Shrek 2 made $108,037,878 million opening weekend
Shrek made $42,347,760 million opening weekend

Post your predictions on the following questions. Whoever gets the most right gets an onion:

How much money will Shrek the Third make opening day?

How much money will Shrek the Third make opening weekend?

Will it be #1?

Is a cartoon CGI movie ever not?

If it had been released THIS weekend, it would have more of a fight from Spidey..but of course thats why it's not being released now.

Here's a question... if Shrek 3 makes less than $100 mil will it be considered a failure?

No silly, Superman Returns is the only movie that can make a crap load of money and be considered a failure

Seriously though, most likely, with the trend for successive franchise movies to make more than their predecessors, making any less is going to be seen a failure.

It happened with Matrix Revolutions, I wouldn't be surprised if it happens here too. After all, the initial reviews for Shrek 3 have been "mixed" and that's being pretty generous.

Nah. The budget was only $160 million. That makes this a moderate box office success, even if it only made $90 million on its opening weekend.

Anything that can recoup half its budget opening weekend is solid.

BOM has production budget at $160,000,000

$60,000,000 would barely cover the actor's wages.

Yeah, I thought that looked wrong, checked and updated.

By comparison, Superman Returns had a budget of $270 million but only made $80+ million its opening weekend.
