Daly Rocks On with NBC Comedy
Quote:
In television, sooner or later everything old is new again. A comedy project that Carson Daly will executive produce for NBC is the latest example.
Daly and writer-producer Tom Brady ("The Hot Chick," "The Critic") are developing a show set at a radio station. It will be based in part on Daly's experience as a DJ during his pre-MTV days, but the "Last Call" host also makes the project sound a lot like "WKRP in Cincinnati."
"A radio station is where the most diverse characters can all find a home," Daly says in a statement released to the Hollywood trade papers. "We wanted to create a show that would reflect all the fun and spontaneity of what happens when those people come together under the pressure of corporate ownership."
Daly worked at KROQ-FM, which has also sent Adam Carolla and Jimmy Kimmel into the TV ranks, before becoming a household name to millions of teenagers on MTV's "Total Request Live." He also worked as a DJ in the San Francisco Bay Area.
"Last Call," Daly's NBC late-night show, is currently in its third season. The comedy project, which he will not star in, is part of a development deal with NBC Studios.
