Showtime Exposes Titus Special

Showtime's renewed commitment to comedy programming continues with the announcement that the network will film a one-hour comedy special with Christopher Titus. Earlier, the premium cable network announced that Dave Chappelle would topline a Showtime special set for next year.
Unless you count guest starring roles on "Jenny" and "21 Jump Street" and years trying to break on the stand-up circuit, Titus became an overnight sensation when his FOX series "Titus" premiered in 2000. The critically praised show, based on the his own dysfunctional family life, was only a tepid ratings performer, but it earned Titus a Writer's Guild nomination for episodic comedy writing.

"Christopher Titus is an exceptional performer," says Showtime Entertainment President Robert Greenblatt. "His stage show, which is based on his real-life experiences growing up in an incredibly dysfunctional family, has been generating great acclaim within the industry. His ability to find humor in even the most tragic situations is truly remarkable. I made his first network development deal at Fox over eight years ago, and I'm thrilled we'll be working together again."


Titus has been touring the country with his stand-up show "Norman Rockwell Is Bleeding." Showtime will film the show, with Titus and Ken Weinstock executive producing.
Since "Titus" went off the air in 2002, the comic has been involved in several development deals with NBC. He starred in the network's one-hour pilot "Future Tense" for the 2003-04 development season
