'Beene' Back on the Scene in February

FOX's coming-of-age comedy "Oliver Beene" is set to return to the network's schedule in early 2004 with a two-episode launch.
Before the 1960s-set laffer settles into its new home on Sundays, FOX will tease the show in the best way it knows how: A special episode of "Oliver Beene" will air on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 9:30 p.m., where it will follow the introduction of the newest group of "America Idol" semifinalists.

The show's official second-season premiere will come on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The scheduling of "Beene" will require FOX to move new episodes of "King of the Hill" up to 7 p.m.


"Oliver Beene" stars Grant Rosenmeyer as a young boy growing up surrounded by a quirky family in Kennedy-era America. The show co-stars Grant Shaud as Oliver's high-strung father and Wendy Makkena as his mother. Andrew Lawrence, Taylor Emerson and Daveigh Chase also star.
Howard Gewirtz and Steven Levitan ("Just Shoot Me," "Wings") executive produce.

After a spring premiere, "Oliver Beene" averaged nearly 9.45 million viewers, capitalizing on its "Simpsons" lead-in at 8:30 p.m. on Sundays.
