Hanks Shows 'Big Love' to HBO
Quote:
Tom Hanks and HBO are teaming up again, this time for a drama series pilot.
The premium cable channel and Playtone, the production company headed by Hanks and Gary Goetzman, are close to a deal for a drama pilot called "Big Love," according to the Hollywood trade papers. The show would explore bigamy, although few other details are available.
Hanks and Goetzman would serve as executive producers on the project along with writers Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer ("In the Gloaming"). Playtone and HBO are still discussing the cost of the project and possible directors.
HBO has worked with Hanks on several projects in the past, including the Emmy-winning miniseries "Band of Brothers" and "From the Earth to the Moon." Additionally, Playtone is involved in the development of a World War II miniseries set in the Pacific theater and a comedy based on the novel "Lloyd: What Happened."
Playtone and HBO Films also helped finance the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding."
