Bands from your town?

Any great bands from your hometown or a town you lived in?

I lived in Athens for 10 years (5 while in college). I attended the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. REM and the B-52s are two bands from Athens. I ran into Michael Stipe at least 3 times while in school. He looked like a sickly homeless person everytime lol.

Another band you might not know as well is Widespread Panic who are pretty darn good.

Hawaii has it's own music scene of Hawaiian music, so don't really know what bands kidna made it big because a lot of them are huge here.

I know Poi Dog Pondering
IZ - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole (He sang the "somwhere over the rainbow" song that they played on ERs last show and i think got somewhat popular).
Tantra Monster was a local ska band that toured with Skankin pickle, but don't think they made it big otherwise.

Hawaii is all into music..it's kinda why I really want to watch the American Idol this season..they came to hawaii and i'd like to see how us locals did.
