Glam Rock: The DVD

Is it just me or was everybody in the music biz ugly like a monkey's ass back in the 70s? And I'm not talking about the clothes. I get the impression that bad hair & bad teeth was the fab back then.
Anyways, my eyes are still twitching after watching this DVD compilation of 20 original TV recordings from the 70s. Almost like watching a surreal Twilight Zone episode
Great music though, but I wouldn't put them all in the "Glam Rock" category.

Audio: 5.1 Dolby Digital / 5.1 dts
Format: NTSC / 1.33:1
Region: 0

1. T. Rex - Jeepster

Is it Glam Rock?: Definitely.
Ugly scale: None. Bolan is the ultimate in coolness.

2. Roxy Music - Virginia Plain

Is it Glam Rock?: Sorta ... very weird & experimental.
Ugly scale: Ferry is one slick mofo.

3. Suzi Quatro - 48 Crash

Is it Glam Rock?: Hardrock, if anything.
Ugly scale: Suzy isn't glamorous. She's a true rock n roller wearing ordinary black leather.

4. David Essex - Rock On

Is it Glam Rock?: No glam in his game.
Ugly scale: Essex actually looks normal.

5. The Sweet - Teenage Rampage

Is it Glam Rock?: Sure. Great song.
Ugly scale: 2 outta 5. Outfits will make your jaw drop ... and everyone has long hair that would put Rapunzel to shame.

6. Bay City Rollers - Bye Bye Baby

Is it Glam Rock?: Um, I'd call it teeny-pop?
Ugly scale: 3 outta 5. Apparently they were the New Kids On The Block back in the 70s. Costumes are hilarious.

7. Medicine Head - How Does It Feel

Is it Glam Rock?: Trippy Hippy Rock?
Ugly scale: 4 outta 5. White dude playing a Jew's Harp has the biggest afro I've ever seen.

8. Lulu - The Man Who Sold The World

Is it Glam Rock?: It's shit.
Ugly scale: 5 outta 5. Lady dresses like a man. Scary.

9. David Cassidy - Rock Me Baby

Is it Glam Rock?: Nope, it's just Keith Partridge imitating Elvis.
Ugly scale: 3 outta 5 for those silver space boots he's wearing.

10. Smokie - If You Think You Know How To Love Me

Is it Glam Rock?: No way. Country & Western pop? Very catchy though.
Ugly scale: 4 outta 5. Them boys need a haircut.

11. Steve Harley - Here Comes The Sun

Is it Glam Rock?: Nope. Sounds more like Tom Jones on a bad day.
Ugly scale: 5 outta 5. Dude looks like a porn actor.

12. Tom Robinson Band - 1, 2, 6, 8 Motorway

Is it Glam Rock?: Not sure what it is but it stinks.

13. Showaddywaddy - You Got What It Takes

Is it Glam Rock?: Here comes the puke ... big band pop? It's horrible.
Ugly scale: 5 outta 5. If matching suits are considered Glam Rock then I don't know what

14. Nazareth - Love Hurts

Is it Glam Rock?: Hardly.

15. Dave Edmunds - Here Comes The Weekend

Is it Glam Rock?: No Sir. More country pop.

16. Rod Stewart - Tonight's The Night

Is it Glam Rock?: Nein.
Ugly scale: 1 outta 5 for that red rose he attached to his hip (!).

17. Roxy Music - Do The Stand

See above.

18. T. Rex - 20th Century Boy

Is it Glam Rock?: Is a frog's ass waterproof?
Ugly scale: See above.

19. Mungo Jerry - Alright Alright Alright

Is it Glam Rock?: Nope, and thank god it's not "In The Summertime" either. Hate that song.
Ugly scale: 5 outta 5. It's "Planet Of The Apes" revisited! Plus Mongo has bad teeth.

20. Alice Cooper - Public Animal #9

rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrocks! and Alice drinks a beer while performing.

Any Glam Rock fans here? Comment!

Certainly not what I'd call the "definitive collection" of glam rock.

They didn't even pick Steve Harley's best song.
