Forest Whitaker Is Dr. Jekyll No More

Remember that crazy plan to have 50 Cent and Forest Whitaker co-star in a Jekyll and Hyde reboot? Well, it turns out it was too crazy, for Whitaker at least. Shock Till You Drop is reporting that while out promoting his upcoming film Repo Men, Whitaker has confirmed he is no longer attached to the project.

Now what? Let’s hope Warner Bros. ditched the idea all together. First off, having Whitaker playing Jekyll and 50 starring as his wacked out counterpart Hyde is ludicrous (no pun intended). Whitaker is fine, but I don’t know if I’d be able to handle 90 minutes of 50’s monotone drawl. Now that Whitaker is out of the picture, who could the studio possibly find to keep moviegoers interested? More importantly, what established actor would even sign on to this project?

We also already have that Keanu Reeves Jekyll and Hyde remake. Is there really a need for two? Then again, director Nicolas Winding Refn recently ditched that one, so there’s always the possibility that that could get pushed aside for the time being. I’m not particularly thrilled about either remake, but if I had to be pulling for one, it’s certainly Reeves’.
