Yasunori Mitsuda Composing Music To Lime Odyssey: Chronicles Of Orta

Free-to-play MMOs just got an upgrade. Aeria Games announced today that Lime Odyssey: The Chronicles of Orta, their upcoming free-to-play MMORPG which is currently in development, will feature the renowned work of famous Chrono Trigger composer, Yasunori Mitsuda.

For those of you who don't know, Yasunori Mitsuda was part of the trio of famed game composers for SNES RPGs, including Secret of Mana's timeless soundtrack by Hiroki Kikuta and of course, the man himself, Nobuo Uematsu. If you never heard any of Mitsuda's work just type in "Schala's theme" and YouTube will do the rest.

A brief history of Mitsuda in the press release for Lime Odyssey reads as follows...

In addition to scoring videogame projects, over the last decade, he has pursued several solo album projects as well. He has also been involved in collaborative and behind-the-scenes work, such as the Shadow Hearts series in the mid-2000s, and more recently, heading up a composing team for the critically-acclaimed Xenoblade Chronicles, which will be released in North America this April.

Well I can probably attest to the music in Lime Odyssey being good just because Mitsuda is attached to the project, however, Aeria will have a lot to live up to when it comes to the actual gameplay and storytelling. Then again, maybe the game turned out to be good enough for them to seek out the services of Mitsuda so that the project would have music fitting enough for its gameplay.

Either way, at least gamers will know that Lime Odyssey doesn't have a cheap F2P name and that it will have a quality soundtrack from a legend.

Lime Odyssey: The Chronicles of Orta is set for release later this year. For more info and media assets be sure to pay a visit to the Official Website.
