Day 1 Studios Announces New Mech Game, Reign Of Thunder

The studio that brought mech games into popularity on home consoles with MechAssault on the original Xbox is going back to their roots with Reign of Thunder, a heavy-action giant mech game.

The new title will be a free-to-play MMO type of game with lots of different customizable mechs available for players to mess around with, build up, tear down and evolve over the course of gameplay. Speaking of gameplay...a new trailer was released to give gamers an idea of what to expect from the title, which you can check out below.

Doesn't look bad. There were very common complaints on multiple websites, YouTube and news sites reporting on Reign of Thunder from average users who all said the same thing: The mechs move too fast.

While some people are quick to point out that the internet community complains too much, I actually have to agree with the complainers. Mech games are strategic real-time simulations of mechanized combat. Their precise, mechanical movements and weighty physics help give the game a sense of immersion and strategy. That's not to mention that fast and speedy gameplay in giant robots is usually relegated to Gundam games.

Still, it looks like Reign of Thunder is a mech game for Call of Duty fans; gamers who want really fast, Rambo-style combat in mechs.

Old-school gamers can still settle for MechWarrior Online and MechWarrior Tactics when they become available later this year.

For young gamers who want to hop into the action and blast opponents away at the blink of an eye, you can sign-up and learn more about Reign of Thunder at the official website.
