Konami will be bringing the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection to PlayStation Vita this summer. Today the publisher released the first details and screenshots on this handheld edition of the high-def compilation.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection updates Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater with new visuals. The controls and user interface have also been redone to suit the Vita. The game's "transfarring" system will allow you to play the same save files on both the Vita and PS3.

Each Metal Gear Solid games put players in the shoes of a lone operative charged with stopping a craaaazy terrorist plot. Outnumbered and outgunned, players are encouraged to rely on stealth skills to complete their mission. It's not a stealth-only experience, though; there are plenty of gunfights, including battles against over-the-top boss enemies.

"The PlayStation Vita system will provide fans with an exciting new way to enjoy the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection," said Martin Schneider, General Manager for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. "We’re confident that users will be pleased with the new innovations Kojima Productions have implemented with the new PlayStation Vita iterations, offering a truly unique experience for this exciting new format."
