The Amazing Spider-Man Game Now Available

The wait for The Amazing Spider-Man is now over...at least as far as the video game based on the movie is concerned. The game, from Activision and Beenox Studios, sees players assuming the role of their favorite city-swinging web-headed mutant, as he attempts to save Manhattan once more from a group of nefarious villains.

David Oxford, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Activision Publishing commented in the press release, saying...

The game is a throwback to Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3 for last gen systems, where you could freely navigate the open-world of New York and carry on and about the city doing side-missions, main missions and generally having fun swinging around in an open world environment. But since this is Spider-Man and not Grand Theft Auto, there are no prostitutes that you can pick up in a police car and bang under a bridge. Nope, you'll have to settle with Lego City Undercover if you want that kind of hardcore action.

Anyways, the game follows a young Peter Parker with his newfound spidey abilities, battling renown villains and generally having fun as Spider-Man.

The game is currently available in North America for the Xbox 360, PS3, 3DS, DS and Wii, and it will be available in Europe at the end of this week on June 29th. PC gamers who are feeling a bit left out can also look for the game to land on a digital e-tailer shelf near you starting August 10th...so yes, Activision still cares about the almighty PC gamer dollar.
