War Thunder PS4 Trailer Is Full Of Heavy Metal

Gaijin Entertainment has announced that its military MMO, War Thunder is headed to the PlayStation 4 this holiday season and, in the process, has revealed a few new details about potential features of the new console.

First, let’s take a look at that new trailer for War Thunder, which adds a whole new meaning to the term “heavy metal.” We’ve got metal being melted, metal being pounded, metal being soldered and, eventually, metal rolling out onto the battlefield in the form of a tank. The game is set during World War II and, being an MMO, it’ll give players the chance to go to war on the ground in tanks, in the air in planes and out in the ocean in war ships. War Thunder is currently in the middle of a PC beta with 1.5 million users duking it out, so hopefully the game will find a similar audience on the PS4 when it launches later this year.

Of particular note in Gaijin’s announcement, however, are the mention of streaming homemade gameplay videos (which we already knew about), head tracking and “full support of PlayStation Cloud.” Whether or not that means saving to cloud or running off of it is unsure, but it certainly looks like Gaijin is looking to take advantage of as many next-gen bells and whistles as they can get their hands on.

It’s been rumored that MMOs are going to be a bigger part of console gaming in the next generation of consoles, and this early announcement for War Thunder only goes to prove it. Now we just have to wait and see if it will maintain its current free-to-play model.
