There's going to be a heck of a lot of killing on the PlayStation Network this week as games like Deadpool, Hotline Miami and Spartacus Legends appear on the virtual store shelves. But don't worry, we've been informed that virtual enemies only feel a little bit of pain. You can take 'em out with a (mostly) clear conscience.
UPDATE: Due to PSN maintenance scheduled for tomorrow, June 25, the regular Tuesday update will be going live tonight, June 24, instead.
Announced via The Drop, this week's headlining new title on PSN is Deadpool. The Merc with a Mouth debuts in his very own vidya game, complete with over the top antics, vicious violence and plenty of fourth-wall breaking. For those with a keen ear, you may even notice that Deadpool is voiced by none other than Nolan North, also known as the pipes of Nathan Drake and about a billion other video game characters.
Next up on the list is Ride to Hell: Retribution, an action brawler wherein players also get to customize their very own motorcycle on a quest for vengeance.
PC gamers have been enjoying the insane antics of Hotline Miami for a while now and, starting this week, PS3 and PS Vita gamers will finally know the joy of cruising from room to room as a 1980's hitman, carefully taking out mobsters and the like in a ballet of death coated in an old school vibe. Don't forget that this one is a cross-buy title, meaning you get a copy for your home console and your portable by just paying for the game once.
Muramasa Rebirth also arrives on the PlayStation Vita this week, giving players the chance to enjoy the beautiful world of feudal Japan as either a possessed princess or a ninja warrior guided by an enchanted blade. Along the way, you'll explore a gorgeous world and lay to waste countless enemy samurai, ninjas, monsters and spirits.
The PlayStation Network will receive several new games this week as well, including the annual instillation in the top trading card game, Magic 2014 Duels of the Planeswalkers, as well as new billiards game, Pool Nation, and customizable fighting game, Spartacus Legends.
But wait, there's more!
A pair of PS2 Classics arrive on PSN this week, including real-time shooter Warship Gunner 2 and horse-riding simulator Riding Star. I'm sure these two titles are wonderful and all, but maybe the term “Classic” doesn't need to be used as a catch-all for every single port arriving on the Network.
Look for all of these games, along with the usual batch of demos, trailers and DLC, to arrive on PlayStation Network tonight, June 24..
