Dragon Ball Z: Battle Of Z Offers Special Characters For Pre-order, Day One Buys

It’s nearly time for an all-out battle and, thanks to the awesome processing power of modern game consoles, you won’t even need to spend the next three episodes charging up in order to be prepared for a throwdown in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z, due out in early 2014.

Goku, Vegita, Picollo and the rest of the DBZ crew are ready to Jump (get it?!) back into action as yet another game based on the legendary manga/anime series is set to take fighting fans by storm with the impending release of Battle of Z for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and Xbox 360.

Now that Tokyo Game Show is underway, Namco Bandai has announced a couple of special details related to the game, including special bonuses for pre-order and day one buyers of the game.

It’s been kind of a big year for Dragon Ball Z as, out of nowhere, a brand new movie set within the popular universe popped up in theaters this year called Battle of Gods. While lots of familiar faces duke it out on the silver screen, the real fight won’t be underway until early next year when Battle of Z once again offers players the chance to choose from the series’ epic cast of characters to duke it out on levels pulled straight out of the anime.

If you feel like putting your money down a little early on this one, Namco Bandai is rewarding all pre-orders of the game with two special DLC characters that, according to a statement from the publisher, “will be available solely via pre-order.” Those characters include none other than Super Vegito and Goku’s own father, Super Saiyan Bardock.

While those two characters are only available through pre-order, a third DLC character will be available to anyone who gets the game on its release date. The day one character is a bit of a crossover surprise, giving players access to Goku wearing a Naruto Uzumaki Sage Mode Costume. In other words, he’ll have Goku’s moves, but the character will look like the star of one of Jump’s other uuber-popular IPs, Naruto.

You may recall that last year’s Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 gave players access to a Goku costume for Naruto to wear. Well, turn around is fair play, it seems, as now it is Goku’s turn to play dress up and strut around as someone else.

“Following our tradition of high quality manga adaptations, this game will please all Dragon Ball Z fans,” said Namco Bandai Senior VP Olivier Comte. “With this new Team Melee Action game and enhanced graphics, long hours of online/offline team-play and fun awaits players.”
