Beyond: Two Souls Leads The Charge In Weekly PlayStation Releases

Is Jodie telekinetic, the result of some alien/government experiment, or simply the focus point of some sort of bizarre haunting. We'll all finally find out the answer this week as Quantic Dream's latest cinematic gaming experience, Beyond: Two Souls, finally arrives on the PlayStation 3. And just in case you've got a lot of free time on your hands this week, Beyond is bringing a lot of friends along for the ride in this week's batch of new releases.

Per usual, Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements is dishing all of the details on this week's PlayStation Network update, including a whopping 13 new titles to help keep everyone busy for the next few weeks.

Beyond: Two Souls is the big standout this week, featuring the performances and likenesses of Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe. Players will follow Jodie Holmes through her tragic childhood, discovering that she either has unique powers or is actually tethered to an entity she calls Aiden. Aiden is able to move objects, posses enemies, crush objects (including human throats) and the like. Then again, it could all be Jodie's doing, and maybe she's created this Aiden persona to help herself deal with the guilt and bewilderment that comes from such powers? Either way, the demo for the game is available on PSN right now, giving you a nice chunk of gameplay to work through and see what the game is all about. I, for one, was pretty impressed, and am looking forward to unraveling the full mystery once Beyond arrives on the PlayStation 3 this week.

Taking a slightly less serious approach this week is Atomic Ninjas, the four-player melee-style fighting game featuring a bunch of adorable ninjas with their own unique abilities. Atomic Ninjas will be available for the PS3 and the Vita as a cross-buy title.

Battle of Tiles EX will also arrive on PSN this week and, as the title implies, it offers a tile-based strategy game for fans of the genre to dig into. Going in a slightly more 3D direction of the strategy combat genre, Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness is also out this week, continuing the long-running JRPG series with another trip to the Netherworld.

Fans of co-op first-person shooters who never got around to revisiting the planet of Pandora can this week grab a copy of Borderlands 2: Game of the Year Edition, which features the core game and loads of DLC. There's also Capcom Essentials hitting the market this week, bundling Resident Evil 6, Super Street Fighter IV, Devil May Cry 4, Dead Rising 2 and Mega Man 10 all on one Blu-ray disc. If you want to take the shotgun approach to buying Christmas gifts for a friend, there's bound to be something on there just about any gamer can enjoy.

Dishonored: Game of the Year Edition brings the core game and a bunch of its DLC back to the PS3 this week, along with racing game F1 2013 and top-down shooting PlayStation 2 Classic, Heavenly Guardian. You'll also be able to shake your groove thang with Just Dance 2014, or mow through a handful of epic boss battles on the Vita with Malicious Rebirth.

Finally, Worms Revolution Extreme arrives on the PlayStation Vita this week, with Orc Attack finally laying siege to the PS3.
