Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare Trailer Details New Co-op Survival Mode

Activision and Sledgehammer Games released a brand new video for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The new trailer drops some details on the single-player campaign, showcasing all those fancy graphics and cinematic sequences... but it also does something else, it gives us a look at the new multiplayer co-op mode.

The near three-minute trailer spends half its time showing off the new and improved graphics – and it's hard not to deny that they spent a lot of time making sure that Kevin Spacey looks as good as he possibly can on the new generation consoles – and the other half is spent on the multiplayer.

Now, in the previous trailers we saw a detailed overview of how the multiplayer works. We got to witness how the weapon customization plays out, how players can unlock new weapons using the supply drops and how the exo-suits can be utilized to maneuver around the play-field. The trailer above gives us a bit more of a sneak-peek into how the advanced tactics of the exo-suit can be put into play. Jumping, sliding and blasting someone off the ledge actually looked pretty cool.

Of course, all of that was just leading up to the announcement of the game's newest mode: exo-suit survival. The new cooperative mode sees four players fending off wave after wave of enemy combatants, as they get increasingly difficult.

The mode is your standard-fare Firefight from titles like Halo or the Horde Mode from Gears of War. The mode was met with a lot of derision from the gaming community, as they felt as if the whole thing was a complete rehash of the co-op survival mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 called Spec-Ops.

A lot of users were hoping for, and expecting, zombies. I kind of understand their want for something familiar, and Treyarch's inclusion of the undead shooting fest has left a taste in the mouths of gamers that is insatiable.

I was never that big a fan of Call of Duty, and I've always found myself disinclined to get excited about the franchise due to its repetitive nature. I do, however, think that this newest title goes over and beyond to add as much content as humanly possible.

Just looking over the options they've made available for all the weapons is just kind of overwhelming. In fact, if you were a fan of all the “bazillion” guns offered in Borderlands, you're likely going to enjoy the arsenal offering that Sledgehammer has cooked up in Advanced Warfare. Too many options are never a bad thing.

The addition of verticality and the mini-mech suits also puts the game in direction competition with Titanfall, but I must say that it looks like Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will run absolute circles around Respawn's title, mostly due to the fact that it has a single-player campaign and tons, and tons, and tons of content. The game is due to drop on November 4th. You can learn more by visiting the official website.
