Watch Dogs: Wii U, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 Graphics Comparison

One of the big questions about Watch Dogs on the Wii U was how well the game would look in comparison to the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game? Well, we finally have that question answered with a comparison video between the Wii U version of Watch Dogs, the PS3 and Xbox 360 version of Watch Dogs, and the PS4 version of Watch Dogs.

Nintendo Enthusiast caught wind of the video from the YouTube user Ninten2TV. The video is a split-screen showcase of the graphics differences between each version, and even outside of the render quality you can also see how the frame-rate is pretty choppy, too.

Actually – something many gamers have noticed after watching the video – it's quite apparent that the Wii U version of Watch Dogs looks closer to the PS4 version of the game than it does the PS3 or Xbox 360 version.

Even more than that is the revelation of just how terrible the frame-rate is with the PS3. You can easily see how the game is struggling to maintain pace even while looking pretty drab and washed out. It's amazing how you can see just how bad the performance is compared to the other platforms when you see it lined up in the split-screen comparison.

There are still a few things that the Wii U version is missing that's quite apparent in the PS4 version, including the dynamic soft shadows that help bring the characters and environments to life.

But if we move past the graphics and the pixel-point measurements and look at the actual game, sadly Watch Dogs hasn't been able to move beyond the criticisms and harshness levied at it from the gaming community. In fact, following the release of Watch Dogs on the Wii U, there were plenty of complaints from users on Metacritic that Ubisoft's open-world hacktion title was riddled with a disease called “boredom”.

Ubisoft had originally delayed Watch Dogs on the Wii U from the original May release, pushing it into the fall season. Their reasoning was pretty flimsy but on the technical-performance front the game at least seems to be competent, which is more than what can be said of Ubisoft's other recently released title, Assassin's Creed Unity.

Poor 'ole Unity has required more patches than Marv from Sin City. The game came out of the gate more broken than a cat-scratched record.

As for Watch Dogs... the game puts players into the role of a anarchical hackivist known as Aiden Pearce. Players will be able to manipulate the world around them using the simple press of the 'X' button and attempt to troll other players in the online modes that allow you to invade other players' games.

You can pick up a copy of Watch Dogs for the Wii U along with the other consoles, if pressing 'X' to hack things is your idea of fun.
