Game Of Thrones Intro Painstakingly Recreated In LittleBigPlanet 3

With so many houses warring over the Iron Throne, none suspected that the next fearless leader to rule the lands of Westeros would be…Sackboy? Well, that appears to be the case, as one crafty LittleBigPlanet world builder has managed to recreate the Game of Thrones opening credits within the game.

In case you’ve missed out on one of the biggest crazes of the past half-decade, George R.R. Martin’s epic fantasy saga, “A Song of Ice and Fire,” has been turned into an extremely popular television series on HBO. All of the gritty battles, crisscrossing storylines, heroes and villains are accounted for, played out annually as a CG-heavy series boasting massive dragons, epic wars, double crosses aplenty and bewbs galore.

As you might expect, such a popular series has spawned numerous homages and loads of fan art, including this latest masterpiece crafted in LittleBigPlanet 3.

At this point, I’m not sure what can’t be done in the LittleBigPlanet series. Using deceptively simple toolsets, folks have created entire games within the LBP community, a recreation of the entirety of Final Fantasy VII and even a first-person shooter that actually works.

This latest impressive feat was created by user Aaaaalec and posted to Youtube by user TheJamster1992 LBP. I can’t tell if the two users are one and the same or if Mr. Jamster was simply so impressed with Aaaaalec’s work that they decided to record it and post it online. Either way, I’m glad it’s been shared with the world.

Aaaaalec absolutely nails the whole shebang here, complete with the staticy HBO logo, now changed to feature the letters “LBP.” From there, you’re treated to a shot-by-shot recreation of the opening credits, boasting a world map that looks a lot like a game board, complete with clock-work pieces that move and construct as the camera swoops near.

The video takes you on a whirlwind tour of Westeros, from King’s Landing to Winterfell to the Wall and beyond, boasting impressively detailed pieces that spring to life just like in the original version of the opening credits.

The extremely recognizable Game of Thrones theme also plays in the background and, just like the video portion of the clip, the music was created within LittleBigPlanet, too. There’s even adorable Sackboy versions of the four main house mascots at the end.

Even more impressive is the fact that Aaaaalec apparently created this entire thing in about two weeks. I spent around 30 hours crafting a world in the original LittleBigPlanet and, while I was pretty happy with the results, Aaaaalec’s work with Game of Thrones makes my level look like a child’s finger painting.
