Liam Neeson Channels Taken In Perfect Clash Of Clans Super Bowl Ad

One of the big Super Bowl ads to air during half-time was a hilarious bit featuring Liam Neeson channeling his angry, super-spy alter-ego in the form of Taken's lead protagonist, Bryan Mills. You can check out the ad below, which is for the mobile title Clash of Clans, courtesy of Youtuber AyS Gaming.

The ad above, clocking in at just a minute to the dot, does a fine job of conveying the kind of tense rival mentality that can spawn out of some competitive multiplayer games. Neeson getting into the Bryan Mills schtick while ordering a scone from the local coffee place is hilariously set against his intense rivalry with someone in the Clash of Clans game.

I'm sure this video will easily go viral given the silliness of it all and the fact that Neeson seems to get into the role quite seriously.

The one line near the end is absolutely gold – and that cold-hard stare to match it is worth a million bucks.

“You will regret the day you crossed AngryNeeson52.”

It's also kind of funny because AngryNeeson was apparently taken... or rather, 51 “AngryNeeson” screen names were taken so the legendary actor had to settle for “AngryNeeson52”. I expect it might even become a trendy topic at some point.

The YouTube comments are also ripe with hilarity and great riffs on the original quote from Taken where Neeson's Bryan Mills character explains what he's going to do to the guys who kidnapped his daughter. YouTuber SteelKatanas does a perfect job of rearranging the text to fit Supercell's Clash of Clans

I didn't think Clash of Clans was popular enough to warrant a Super Bowl ad starring Liam Neeson, but Supercell went and did it. I imagine the game's market valuation will sky rocket with this bit of promotional science – that's not to mention that there's huge potential for all kinds of trendy topics to spawn around this ad alone.

Mobile gaming can be a cruel mistress of no particular kind of method, taste or rhythm, and only a few companies (and some independent developers) have managed to make good on profiting from the mobile market's billion-user pool. I would be willing to bet that Clash of Clans will turn a pretty penny for Supercell even more than it did before thanks to a lot of help from Liam Neeson's revenge-dialogue in that Super Bowl ad above.

You can learn more about the game by paying a visit to the official Clash of Clans website.
