Lego Jurassic World And Marvel's Avengers Announced

TT Games, the Lego Group and Warner Bros. Entertainment have announced two new massive games coming out this year under the Lego brand: Lego Jurassic World and Lego Marvel's Avengers.

The two games were recently announced to tie-in with the two massive upcoming blockbusters due out this year. The news about the games popped up in the unlikely place of Coming Soon, the movie website.

David Haddad, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment commented about the Lego game news, saying...

“The LEGO videogame franchise remains a cornerstone of our business, consistently delivering fun, engaging gameplay and remarkable humor both kids and adults love,” … “We look forward to expanding the successful series with this very exciting line-up of new LEGO experiences for players of all ages to enjoy on console, handheld and mobile gaming devices.”

The Lego Jurassic World game takes place across all four of the films. That's right, it includes the original Jurassic Park adventures, Jurassic Park: The Lost World, Jurassic Park III and the upcoming flick, Jurassic World.

Details on the actual gameplay are scarce, but if I were a wagering man I would put money down on the side that says that this will be a very similar game to previous Lego titles developed by TT Games. I do wonder how the whole dinosaur bit will work, though? I'm also kind of curious to see how that'll all play out.

According to Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games, he stated that...

“This year will be the biggest yet for LEGO videogames with these incredible titles and several firsts for the series,” … “TT Games are crafting humorous LEGO adventures, based on new stories and characters across some of the most well-known and iconic worlds.”

Lego Marvel's Avengers is another interesting one... as it's not just a standalone game featuring the tales and exploits of the greatest heroes on Earth from the 2012 flick, it's also a combination game featuring the adventures and borrowed story from the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron movie due out this year. The game won't be wanting for content.

I can definitely imagine how the gameplay will be in Lego Marvel's Avengers, especially with previous Lego super hero titles already released. It's more like a continuation of what they've already established in their long-running and storied franchise(s) in the Marvel hero universe.

Lego Jurassic World is due for release this June for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, PC and... in a very surprising twist, the Wii U. I know, I know, it seems like some publishers forgot that the system even exists.

Lego Marvel's Avengers will come out a little bit later than Jurassic World. According to the press release the game will also make an appearance on all of the aforementioned systems (including the Wii U), but it will appear in the fall.

I imagine that Warner Bros wants to create a bit of separation between the two games so that they don't cannibalize their own audience. Both games also have the potential to move big numbers, so they'll want to maximize their market potential with the younger audiences as best they can.
