Dragon Age: Inquisition Game Of The Year Edition Announced

BioWare and Electronic Arts put together an entire pitch page to announce the GOTY edition of Dragon Age: Inquisition. The award winning game and critically acclaimed title's Game of the Year edition will include all of the pre-released DLC and plenty of extras, fixes and updates.

The news went live over on the official Draogn Age website where BioWare rolled out a big list of features and content that will be available in the GOTY edition of the game, which will be made available on October 6th for the Xbox One, PS4 and on PC.

A lot of gamers have been waiting for this iteration of Dragon Age – just like they wait for any GOTY edition of a game – because it contains all of the previously released downloadable content and usually comes with a few extra trinkets and fixes. Oftentimes when AAA games release they launch incomplete – like with the games that have missing endings or characters removed from the story only to be sold back as DLC – or they launch broken. The last part is one of the issues that really rustles the jimmies of gamers because a game that costs $60 and doesn't work right out of the box is a serious pain.

We just saw a prime example of Batman: Arkham Knight launching on PC over the course of the summer and the game did not work for a lot of gamers right out of the digital box. A mixture of problems contributed to the game running poorly or not running at all for some gamers. Warner Bros and Rocksteady Studios had to delay the game all the way to the fall in order to fix it up right proper. It required several months of quality assurance fixing. It was also one of the cases where quality assurance testers actually found the problems but reports indicated that Warner Bros ignored the testers when they tried informing them that the game wasn't ready to ship.

With many instances like the one above, or where a game launches and has tons of DLC and multiple season passes, like Borderlands 2 or Ultra Street Fighter IV, most gamers have resolved to just waiting it out and getting the GOTY edition so that they get the “complete” game. However, even in the case of Borderlands 2 the GOTY edition didn't actually contain all of the DLC.

For Dragon Age: Inquisition BioWare is including all of the game's DLC and ensuring that all previous patches, upgrades and fixes that were released for the game over the course of the year will be included in the final version that launches in October for home consoles and PC. This includes the DLC packs Jaws of Hakkon, The Descent and Trespasser.

The GOTY edition will also come with the Deluxe Edition add-ons and extra armor, item and weapon upgrades, so you'll have all of the complete content for whatever character you choose to create in the game.

Dragon Age: Inquisition was a pretty large game and the vanilla version easily offered up more than 40 hours of gameplay. Even still, if you wanted an even bigger and more complete experience the GOTY edition will offer it up.

You can look to get your hands on Dragon Age: Inquisition Game of the Year Edition for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC starting October 6th.
