PlayStation Press Conference Next Week Will Bring Loads Of Announcements

Sony will have a big presence at this year's first annual Paris Games Week in Paris, France. The event will see Sony hosting a live press conference that will be streamed from the La Grande Arche de la Défense outdoor monument in Puteaux, France.

Over on the PlayStation blog they announced that the event will take place at 9:00am PST on October 27th, next week.

This is completely separate from the PlayStation Experience event that they recently announced, which will take place during the first week of December, later this year. At the Paris Games Week, Sony plans on revealing brand new games as well as making announcements about updates for previously announced titles. A lot of gamers are hoping this means that we'll get to see or hear more about Horizon: Zero Dawn.

The Sony Computer Entertainment of Europe blog manager, Fred Dutton, wanted to make it clear, however, that the news and announcements at the Paris Games Week may not entirely appeal to those outside of Europe. Very much like how the events and announcements taking place during the Tokyo Game Show are aimed at eastern audiences, it's mentioned in the blog that the announcements during the Paris event will be aimed at European audiences, with Dutton writing...

Please note, much like E3 is targeted to the US audience and Tokyo Game Show is targeted at Japan, Paris Games Week is primarily aimed at European gamers — keep that in mind as you watch. Not everything mentioned or shown in the presentation will necessarily apply to gamers in the United States.

I wonder if that means there will be some Europe-specific PS4 titles announced that will only launch in Europe? That should be interesting to see.

The event will be streamed live, so if you want to at least see what the games and announcements will be like, you can do so through Sony's Twitch channel or through YouTube Gaming via their YouTube channel.

So what sort of games can we expect from the Paris Games Week press conference? I have no idea. The main image over the blog post is for Final Fantasy VII: Remake, which I tend to doubt will actually have a significant presence at the event given that it sounds like the game is still really early in development based on the way Square presented it at E3 this past year.

A standard likelihood is that Uncharted 4 will be there in some capacity. Director Neil Druckmann recently made it known that they completely wrapped on the performance capture, so maybe we'll get to see something new for the game?

There's also Street Fighter V, but that's likely to get something new at an FGC event where it carries more weight. A new Killzone perhaps? Guerrilla Games is still working hard on Horizon so that seems unlikely. Most gamers seem kind of stuck on what's actually going to be showcased at the event and that's good because it means there will be plenty of surprises during the event next week.
