Xbox Live Announces Games With Gold January Roster

It’s hard to believe, but the New Year is just around the corner and, with it, Microsoft is kicking off 2016 with a collection of four new games being added to the Games with Gold collection. Get ready to drive fast, punch hard and unleash cybernetic abilities this January.

The January lineup for Games with Gold is a pretty rad one, boasting a pair of games for folks still rocking an Xbox 360, as well as a pair of Xbox One exclusives. As an added bonus for those of you on the newer hardware, those 360 games can also be played on the One, so that’s four games to work through in the next 30 days. Here’s the rundown:

-Killer Instinct (Xbox One)

-Zheros (Xbox One)

-Dirt Showdown (Xbox 360)

-Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Xbox 360)

Probably the most exciting game in the lineup for those of you gaming on the Xbox One is Killer Instinct. This modern spin on the arcade classic boasts the same off-the-walls combat of the original series, but with plenty of new modes, mechanics and super-sharp graphics to complete the package. If you’ve managed to make it this far without picking up the new Killer Instinct, you no longer have an excuse not to at least give it a try. Killer Instinct will be available from Jan. 1-31 and, just like all of these Games with Gold offerings, it’ll be free of charge for Gold subscribers.

Next up for this month’s Games with Gold roster is the Xbox One title, Zheros. Available from January 16 through February 15, Zheros is a fast-paced brawler set in a futuristic world. A side-scrolling beat-em-up similar to arcade classics like X-Men and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Zheros is all about the good old days of simply beating the stuffing out of lots and lots of baddies.

Moving over to the Xbox 360 (And, again, playable on the Xbox One), speed junkies will be happy to add Dirt Showdown to their digital collection from January 1st through the 15th. Boasting both single and multiplayer modes, you’ll be able to speed your way through standard races, demolition events and even special party modes that put a bigger emphasis on fun than, you know, reality. If you’re looking for an arcade driver that doesn’t take itself to seriously, you can’t really argue with the price of zero dollars.

Finally, Deus Ex: Human Revolution arrives on the Xbox 360 from January 16th through the 31st. A beloved gem from the last generation, this action infiltration game encourages players to be creative in how they tackle sneaking into buildings and taking out enemies.
