GTA Online's Drop Zone Mode Is Getting A Competitive Update

You know what’s rad? Jumping out of airplanes in Grand Theft Auto V. You know what would make it even more rad? Doing exactly that with a bunch of online pals, but in a competitive setting. Thankfully, that’s exactly what we’re getting thanks to a new mode being introduced into the game.

People have started to speculate about when the next GTA game will arrive, but we’re not entirely sure that’s necessary at this point. More so than any previous game in the series (as well as most games in general), the team at Rockstar have kept the content freely flowing for Grand Theft Auto V, including new campaigns, regular challenges, fun additional content and even new multiplayer modes.

Speaking of which, a new multiplayer mode is coming down the pipeline; or should we say “out of the clear blue yonder?” The mode, called “Drop Zone Adversary,” sounds simple and super fun all at the same time. Here’s the basic rundown: Four teams of players will have to leap out of four separate cargo planes and skydive down to a designated location. Once there, your job is to hold control of that location for two minutes. Those minutes don’t need to be consecutive, either. First team to reach the time limit wins.

According to the official announcement, Drop Zone Adversary will be a part of an update arriving in GTA V today for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Since everyone will be dive-bombing the earth and fighting over a single plot of land, the announcement states that Drop Zone Adversary will be a perfect fit for criminals looking for a fast and furious competition boasting huge swings in momentum.

The mode will feature a collection of maps, each one designed to demand different approaches from the competing teams. The maps include Pillbox Hill, Richman College, Elysian Island and the Mirror Park cul-de-sac, as well as the Sisyphus Theater.

That’s a pretty creative take on an already fun multiplayer mode, so we’re looking forward to seeing how Drop Zone Adversary turns out once today’s update goes live in GTAV.

But wait, there’s more. On top of all of that, today’s update will also boast a couple of new vehicles for players to add to their personal garages. Grab either a Karin Sultan RS or a Bravado Banshee 900R and head to Benny’s garage for some brand new upgrade options. Both cars are being provided with a suite of new perks that will make them meaner than ever.

And that’ll about do it for today’s GTAV update. Be sure to give that new mode a try and let us know what you think in the comments section below. And trust me, nobody will think any less of you and your friends if you use this opportunity to act out scenes from the original Point Break.
