Here's How You Can Get Red Dead Redemption On Your Xbox One

One of the upcoming games as part of the Xbox One's backwards compatibility feature will be Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption. Ahead of the official announcement for the game being added to the list, the game has already leaked early in error and some people are playing it right now on their Xbox One.

Venture Beat has instructions on how to play the game on your Xbox One ahead of it officially being added to the backwards compatibility list as an official title, if you already own a digital copy of the game on the Xbox 360. First up, boot up your Xbox One and sign into your Xbox Live account. You'll need to open the account menu on the side and click on “Find Someone”.

You'll want to search up “RockoHoward”. Once he appears on the list, you'll need to click on “View Profile” and then click on his following list and sort the list by “Games”. A number of titles will pop up in the list, one of which includes Red Dead Redemption. Click on the game, click on the option to view it in the store, and then click on “Install Game” to start installing it on the Xbox One. Once it finishes, you'll be able to play it from the Games & Apps library.

The exact same method can also apply for other games that were leaked early, including Halo Wars, Left 4 Dead 2 and Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

The games aren't ready yet for official release as backwards compatible on the Xbox One, and Larry Hryb, better known as Major Nelson, made the announcement on Twitter that the appearance and availability of these games was nothing more than a mistake, as reported by Game Informer.

The appearance of Red Dead Redemption on the Xbox One has sent a shock wave of interest in the game on social media and across Xbox community hubs. A lot of gamers can't wait to play the seventh gen title on their Xbox One.

Some early videos testing out the game shows that it does indeed work on the Xbox One, but it also suffers from some frame-rate issues and stutter. It's to be expected since they're running these titles via emulation.

Red Dead Redemption was one of the biggest highlights of the seventh gen on the Xbox 360 and PS3. The game managed to sell more than 14 million copies over the course of five years, as reported by Gaming Bolt. It's also been one of the most requested games on the list of backwards compatible titles. When Microsoft first announced the feature, the top two games that the community wanted from the Xbox 360 was Red Dead Redemption and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

It looks like Microsoft is delivering on exactly what the fans want, which should help with the continued turnaround of the Xbox brand under Phil Spencer.
