The Hitman Beta Trailer Glimpses Into The Story Of Agent 47

IO Interactive and Square Enix released a new trailer for the upcoming beta of the Hitman reboot. The beta is only going to be made available on PS4 and PC, with the PS4 version starting on February 12 at the end of this week and the PC version going live on February 19th.

Shacknews took note of the new trailer that was posted up to give gamers an idea of what to expect from the beta and the game in general. You can check out the trailer below.

The beta on PS4 will run from February 12 to February 15 and the PC beta will run from February 19 to February 22.

Essentially, players will step into the role of Agent 47 before the events that take place in Paris, France. As the trailer depicts, for the first time players will get an idea of how Agent 47 became part of the ICA and what his early days in the organization were like.

This obviously takes place after he was part of the cloning program and after he escaped from the facility. In the very first game, Hitman: Codename 47, players actually did get to play parts of what it was like when he was trapped in the facility and had to escape. In fact, that was the very first training segment in the game, learning about the weapons, how to sneak, how to do stealth takedowns and eventually escape from the research facility. Later in the game players would return to kill the doctor and the other 40 something clones who were heavily armed and ready to kill you.

It's interesting that IO Interactive is focusing this newest Hitman – well, more specifically the beta for the game – on Agent 47's participation in the ICA.

The company, over the years, has been depicted as an organization that usually has their agents going after criminals, lecherous perverts, gun-runners, smugglers and drug kingpins. Things became a little more convoluted in newer entries in the series like Hitman: Absolution, but it looks like IO interactive wants to get back to the basics with this reboot.

The trailer depicts a rather spacious training facility that players will be able to run around in to hone 47's skills before the first episode in the game launches in March.

If you want to participate in the beta you will have to pre-order Hitman on the PS4 or on PC. This will likely turn off a lot of gamers who would probably prefer to just sign-up and hope to get a beta key, but that's not how Square Enix and IO are playing it this time around.

Fear not, though, because Shacknews makes it known that if you decide to skip out on the beta and avoid committing to a pre-order, you can still play around in the training facility as part of the content in the first episode that goes live with the “Prologue” mission on March 11.

And while the Hitman beta is exclusive to PC and PS4 gamers, you can play the game's first episode on the three major platforms in March, including the Xbox One, PC and PS4. Square Enix and IO Interactive will be releasing additional episodes for the game throughout 2016.
