Mortal Kombat Vs DC Universe Fighting Modes Tutorial

The one thing that you always have to wonder about Mortal Kombat games, is if the darn combo system is balanced out. Well, your wondering (as well as mine) has come to an end with a new trailer that gives a nice in-depth tutorial about how the fighting mechanics work in this newest Mortal Kombat game.

Before we get to the combo system, breakers and all, I must mention that Midway has incorporated some new modes to MK vs DC. So I’ll break it down to you like this: the new modes are better than most of the other “new modes” in previous Mortal Kombat games. But honestly, the Rage mode is the most useless. It looks stupid and has been done better in other games like KOF or Ready 2 Rumble. The only good part about the Rage mode is the ability to charge it up and use it as a combo breaker (i.e., this mode replaces the previous 3 breaker limit from Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.) In a way, the Rage meter is what really compliments the fight with the breaker ability, given that skilled players can continuously counter-balance combo-heavy players by applying the breaker.

One of the other modes showcased in the video is the very, very nice element of the up-close and brutal, Klose-Kombat mode (I know, I know, the ‘K’ instead of the ‘C’ is a little tired now that we’re in 2008). While its zoomed in close to the kombatants (more ‘K’ and not a ‘C’) players can execute brutal and punishing moves, some of which are specific to each character.

The Freefall Kombat mode is a little overdone and underwhelming, but it adds a nice spin to the pace of the game’s combat (yes, a ‘C’ instead of a ‘K’). Some of the characters make better use of this mode than others, but I’ll let you, the reader, be the judge of that. Just drop down below and check out the new trailer. For those of you who have little patience – or possibly short on time since you should be working when you’re viewing gaming websites – you can check out some of our screen captures of the lengthy trailer, as well.

You can look for Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to hit store shelves on November 21st. And be sure to stay tuned in with Blend Games for more news and info regarding the latest games.
