BioWare and FUNimation Entertainment have entered into an agreement to create an anime feature film based on the medieval fantasy RPG series Dragon Age. Production is now underway and the film's home release is scheduled for 2011.

The announcement notes that the film is an adaptation of the franchise. Therefore, it might not be a simple retelling of Dragon Age: Origins. Regardless, expect a storyline involving murderous darkspawn and a band of brave adventurers.

To ensure the film lines up with the tone and content of the games, BioWare will have creative input. Mark Darrah, executive producer of the franchise at BioWare, and Mike Laidlaw, creative director, will serve as executive producers for the movie.
