Activision Gives A Little Back To US TroopsAuthor: William Usher

Some different kind of news for today. It looks as if Activision is taking out their good Samaritan card and using to be...well, good Samaritans. For the troops giving their time as service officers in the US Army, Activision has decided to team with the United Service Organization to help provid the troops with a little good ‘ole fashioned video game entertainment.
“Through this partnership we are able to bring joy to troops that are serving across the globe this holiday season,” said Mike Griffith, President and CEO of Activision Publishing. “The USO is an extraordinary organization and we are committed to working together to develop opportunities that show our support for the troops and celebrate their continued service to our country.” Usually, I would be quick to quip about a company’s decision to do something like this as a way to boost shares, recognition, etc., but it looks like Activision is actually doing this because they want to help. That’s why the company has decided to host special events in coalition with Gamestop, with Guitar Hero and Call of Duty on Veterans Day. Gamers attending Gamestop locations in San Francisco (151 Powell St.) and Washington, D.C. (Pentagon City Mall, 1100 S. Hayes St. Arlington, VA) will be able to play against the troops in Fort Drum, NY, and 29 Palms, CA. Added to this, Activision is giving every $10 off every purchase made of CoD: WaW as a donation to the USO, all the way up to $20,000. You can visit the Official Gamestop Website for more information regarding the event. And be sure to stay tuned in with Blend Games for more news and information regarding the latest titles. |
