Remedy Entertainment announced today that Alan Wake's American Nightmare is currently available right now on the Xbox Live Marketplace for the Xbox Live Arcade for only 1200 MS Points. The game comes jam packed with a few extra hours of gameplay and a new "Fight 'Till Dawn" mode.

Matias Myllyrinne, CEO of Remedy shared a few thoughts on the release of the game, saying...

“With Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, we wanted to challenge the conventions of what makes an Xbox LIVE Arcade title” ... “The game is a combination of pick-up-and-play arcade action that players expect out of an Xbox LIVE Arcade title, as well as a substantial pulp inspired single-player campaign that Remedy is known for.”

The single-player campaign Myllyrinne speaks of contains a short little horror-adventure for Alan Wake as he ventures through a horrific alternate reality of Night Springs to subdue an Evil Ash version of himself known as Mr. Scratch. The real threat from Scratch is that he's not just an evil version of Alan Wake but he's an evil serial killer who wants to murder Wake and his wife Alice. Yeah, extra incentive right there for wanting to do away with Mr. Scratch.

In addition to the short and sweet campaign there is also a "Fight 'Till Dawn" mode that enables players to channel their inner arcade-skills to fight until dawn with Alan Wake and any and every weapon he can get his hands on, all while racking up as much score as possible.
