Gearbox Software's squad-based shooter Aliens vs. Colonial Marines may or may not arrive by the end of 2010. It all depends on how well Rebellion's Aliens vs. Predator does.

"What I would say is it's unlikely that we'd launch anything within six months [after Aliens vs. Predator], but probably nine months, eight to 12 months possibly. Though we literally are looking at that at the moment and a lot of is going to depend, as well, on how successful AvP is at the box [retail]." said Sega president and COO Mike Hayes in a chat with G4TV. Sega is the publisher of both games.

One thing that's not in doubt, though, is that there will be a third game. The Aliens RPG in development at Obsidian was cancelled earlier this year so it's not clear what form this third game will take. However, according to Hayes, there will "absolutely" be a third game.
