Amazon.com has announced that they will now be offering "Release-Date Delivery" for popular upcoming titles. For a small fee, you can ensure that your game will arrive in your mailbox on the day it releases. You won't be able to use this shipping option with every game, though.
Currently this delivery option is only available for four titles: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Gears of War 2, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 (wtf Bezos?), and Fable 2. Upgrading to Release-Date Delivery - they put the hyphen between "Release" and "Date", not me - will cost you an additional $5.95. Customers with subscription to Amazon Prime, the $79/year premium service that offers free two-day shipping in the US, can get Release-Date Delivery for free.
The offer is only valid in the continental United States so gamers in Hawaii and Alaska must continue to stalk their mailmen. Furthermore, you can't get Release-Date Delivery if you're ordering more than one copy of a game - that's right, you can't just get your friend with Amazon Prime to order two copies. You can check out the rest of the fine print here.
