Amy Finally Gets A Release Date For PSN, XBLA
For the longest all we knew about Amy was that it would be arriving sometime during or after the fall. Well, indie studio Lexis Numerique finally unveiled the release date for the long awaited horror-survival title, Amy.
A brief surmise of the game's story was also fleshed out in the press release, with the following details...
The story takes place in December 2034. Global warming has taken effect, causing widespread disease and an upsurge in natural disasters around the globe. The small town of Silver City (Midwest, USA) is directly affected - mostly by a comet that has crashed into town. As Lana, one of Silver's stricken citizens, regains consciousness - she witnesses the onset of a new kind of mayhem. Violent outbursts, fury, rage, wreckage and death: the world she knew seems to have gone to hell.
What makes the game unique from other horror-survival titles out there is that for one, survival is key. It's not about going around trying to find a rocket launcher or flamethrower, you'll actually have to use your wits and hide, run or avoid armed military personnel as well as the infected. There are combat elements present but it's mainly to used to get away and not necessarily to rack up a body count. The only real offensive measures that are afforded to players are with Amy's special telekinetic abilities.
One other aspect of Amy that is quite unique is that the main character, Lana, starts the game infected and it's up to players to keep her close to Amy if she wants to stay alive. The little girl works as a clotting agent against the virus to keep it at bay, however if players wander too far from Amy, then the virus eventually envelops Lana.
Amy is set for a January 11th release for the PSN and XBLA for $14.99 on the PS Store and 800 MS Points from the Live Marketplace. You can learn more about the game by paying a visit to the Official Website.
