People can debate about the quality of games on the iPhone all day long, but Gameloft’s Asphalt 5 could very well be a PlayStation 2 or Wii game. A new debut trailer was released that features in-game play, some of the customization features and the game’s rather astonishing visual effects.

Much like EA’s The Need for Speed, Asphalt 5 features high-octane racing complete with civilians flooding the streets and exotic locations. One of the added in-game bonuses to Asphalt 5 are the power-ups and the ability to element opponents using Burnout-style take-downs. Sounds like this is going to be a very impressive game, no?

What’s more is that the game sports a hefty array of playable vehicles, ranging from Lamborghini’s to the new Audi coupe.
