Today Ubisoft announced that Assassin's Creed II: Discovery, a new adventure for the Nintendo DS, will be released in November.

The European release date is November 20th, the same day that the PS3/Xbox 360 arrive there. Presumably Discovery's North American release will match up with the console versions' launch here on November 17th but we'll let you know Ubisoft says otherwise. The game was first revealed at Apple CEO Steve Jobs' keynote speech earlier this month but there's no mention of the iPhone version in this press release.

In Assassin’s Creed II: Discovery, Ezio travels to France to rescue assassins from the Inquisition. However, when he arrives, he stumbles upon a plot by the Templars. Like the console versions, Discovery's gameplay will be a mix of platforming and killin'. You can use the DSi's built-in camera to take pictures of yourself and put them on "Wanted" posters within the game.

Development of Discovery is being handled by Griptonite Games. They're the same outfit who's making Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines for the PSP.

Update: Ubisoft has confirmed to Blend Games that Discovery will be released on November 17th in North America.
