It isn’t much, but thanks to a scanner and a dream we have some details on the DS version of Assassin’s Creed. Information has been scarce since the game was announced earlier in 2007. The unique gameplay and graphical fidelity of the big version led us to wonder what sort of title Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles would be. Rather than being a scaled port, Ubisoft has wisely chosen to make the game a prequel.

The box art was scanned by someone at GoNintendo and it reveals a few bits about the next Altair adventure. The DS game is a prequel to the events over on the 360/PS3, and tells the story of Altair prior to the story we already know. Also the game is rendered in 3D, but the screens make it look like you’ll play on a 2D plane. Touch controls appear to be involved in at least the interrogation sections, but anything beyond that we don’t know.

Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles is set to come out sometime in the next few months. When we get more official details we’ll pass them along to you.
