Gameloft announced today that Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles is now available for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The game is a direct prequel to the original Assassin's Creed released for the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 and can be downloaded through the App Store now.

Much like the console game, the iPhone Assassin's Creed will have you investigating your quarry through pick-pocketing, interrogation, and other methods (all of which have corresponding mini-games). When it's killin' time, Altair has six weapons to choose from: sword, dagger, crossbow, smoke bomb, exploding bomb and grappling hook.

Four screenshots are below. If the game looks familiar, it's because it was released for the DS last year. The price is $9.99 or £5.99 depending on what side of the Revolutionary War you fought on.
