This is a lot of news for one game in one day, you might say. But it is what it is. Not only is Atelier Iris 3: Grand Phantasm shipping, but we have some brand new trailers of the game that’s up for your perusal, plus we have details on the gameplay and a fact sheet to round things out. A word of warning: careful not to tip over from the information overload.

The interesting thing about Atelier Iris 3 is that it’s a game in a genre that seems to fading from the spotlight, as of late. So far, though, this has been the season of movie-to-games. And sadly AI3 could easily fall between the chinks of mass marketed movie-to-game tie-ins that have been filling up store shelves (and review pockets) all over the place. I’m hoping it doesn’t, though. Hardcore gamers of any genre have been given too many LPs that just haven’t been cutting the custard lately. Here’s hoping a non-movie-to-game franchise can pick up the slack.

But regardless of the media marketing bureaucracy, NiS America’s Atelier Iris 3 – as if the name isn’t indication enough – is a “spiritual” third outing in the trilogy of games. Players will embark on a grand adventure with a new, revised battle system and other additional mini-games not featured in this series prior to this game.
