There’s debate about who Battlefield Heroes is truly intended for. The free to play and advertising shooter looks like a Team Fortress 2 clone that plays like Battlefield’s lanky cousin Wally. But the irreverent jokes and obvious appeal by EA to a more casual crowd, who normally don’t touch a shooter unless the box says “Goldeneye” or “Duck Hunt” on it – may just be a brilliant move.

The game is intended to be played by us average folks who aren’t sporting an HP Blackbird. For that I’d like to thank devs and publishers like EA. You don’t have to melt circuits to have a great game. No one has played Battlefield Heroes, so I can’t say if this will be good. From the debut trailer it looks like you’re guaranteed some fun upon startup. The issue for gamers, and ultimately for EA, is how long it’ll hold our attention.

Then again it could become something us poor gamers stuck in an office cubicle pull up now and then to get our frag on. Check out the new trailer below.
