The PSN/Xbox Live Arcade shooter Battlefield 1943 is doing well but browser-based game Battlefield Heroes is no slouch, either EA revealed today that one million gamers have signed up for the Play 4 Free shooter.

There's no upfront fee or subscription to play Heroes. Instead, the game is supported by advertising and the sale of character customization items. Customization items are purchased with Battlefunds (in turn bought with a credit card or via PayPal). If you don't want to spend real money, though, you can also use Valor Points (earned through gameplay) to make purchases.

Heroes entered open beta in June so now any mope can sign-up for it. You can begin playing by visiting battlefieldheroes.com.
