This weekend, a rumor went around that the PS3 and Xbox 360 would receive the free-to-play multiplayer shooter Battlefield Heroes that DICE is currently developing the PC. Seems the Internet was too hasty to roll out their Jump To Conclusions mat, though.

The rumor apparently started when gamers noticed that EA press site listed the platforms for Heroes as "PC, PS3, and Xbox 360." Heroes producer Ben Cousins shot down the gossip with a note on the game's official website. "Contrary to rumours spreading around the internet in the weekend we have no plans to release Battlefield Heroes on either PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. Battlefield Heroes’ mixture of free download (funded by micro-transactions and advertising) and our extensive use of the web for social features means that Heroes is tailor-made for PC."

Curse you, typos. It seems to be an understand error, though. The two other Battlefield games in development, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 1943, are both PS3/Xbox 360/PC projects.
