Activision recently sent out a press release regarding their acquisition of famed game, television and multimedia composer, Bill Brown, for the upcoming re-imagining of Wolfenstein.
General movie goers and television watchers might recognize the name from CSI: NY, Finding Forrester or Any Given Sunday. Gamers might be more familiar with the name from games such as Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six and Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear, or the Ghost Recon series. Niche gamers might even recognize his subtle yet evocative works from the original but under-rated RPG, Anachronix or the turn-based strategy game, Shadow Watch. Whether you heard of Bill Brown or not, just take note that the guy kicks major butt when it comes to a variety of musical genres and composing for various forms of multimedia. “Bill was the natural choice to create a soundtrack that emphasizes the fast-paced action of Wolfenstein while enhancing the overall mood during key moments and getting players fully immersed in the adventure,” says Kevin Cloud, executive producer at id Software. “Bill crafted the perfect soundtrack when we previously worked together on Return to Castle Wolfenstein and his experience and passion for the franchise will once again allow him to deliver an incredible score that draws the player deeper into the Wolfenstein universe.” Wolfenstein is due out later this year (assuming no economic downturns dissuade the progress of the game) for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. You can visit the Official Wolfenstein Website for more information about the game or drop by Bill Brown’s Official Website to check out some of his tunes.
