Binary Domain Headlines This Week's PSN Update
It’s another grab bag week of new releases for the PlayStation 3 as this week’s update features shooters, sportsball, Legos and a couple of PlayStation 2 Classics.
As a friendly reminder to those willing to go outside to purchase their games, this week’s listings on The Drop begins with Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection, offering eight of games from Hideo Kojima’s legendary series all rolled into a single collection. With the Metal Gear series celebrating its 25th birthday, this collection offers the original MSX versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2, download codes for Metal Gear Solid and VR Missions and, on-disc, it will include the HD versions of Metal Gear Solid 2 and MGS 3, as well as the Trophy-infused version of Metal Gear Solid 4. The package is rounded out by a pair of digital graphic novels, too.
But since this post is dedicated to this week’s new offerings on PlayStation Network, let’s shift our focus to those virtual goods, shall we?
First up this week is the PSN version of Binary Domain, the third-person, squad-based shooter in which players fight for control of Tokyo in 2080. Expect futuristic weapons and lots of robots running amok.
Along with a disc version of the game, NCAA Football 14 also launches on the PlayStation Network this week, offering college football fans the latest and greatest the sport has to offer.
The PlayStation Vita is getting some love this week with a handful of new games, including the augmented reality cat-petting game, Aabs Animals, and the update PS Mini, Coconus Dodge Revitalised. There’s also Total Recoil, the dual-stick shooter with loads of enemies, over-the-top weapons and massive bosses.
There are also a handful of games spreading the love across both the home and portable consoles. History: Legends of War: Patton offers turn-based warfare in a game so big it requires two colons in the title, and Lego Legends of Chima: Laval’s Journey turns the popular new Lego line into an action/adventure game. Sadly, it’s title only requires the one colon. Both of those games should be available for both the PS3 and PS Vita this week.
Finally, that brings us to this week’s pair of PlayStation 2 Classics. Castle Shikigami 2 is a bullet-hell vertically-scrolling shooter and Dynasty Tactics 2 is, as the name implies, a strategy RPG set within the Dynasty Warriors universe.
Look for these games, as well as the usual dose of demos, DLC and videos, to arrive on the PlayStation Network sometime Tuesday afternoon.
